Write a title that explains the page
A title element names the document in its head. It may appear as a search title link and in the browser tab. The visible H1 is a separate element. They should describe the same subject but do not have to be identical. Google may select a different title when other page content provides a more useful name.
What to do
- Identify the question or product specific to this page. Put the important subject first and add a brand name only when it helps.
- Give important pages distinct, descriptive titles. A product page and a category page should support different visitor decisions.
- Use one non-empty title in head. Check both the generated HTML and the rendered page if a CMS or framework manages metadata.
Example
<head>
<title>Bicycle servicing in Odense | Example Workshop</title>
</head>Check for yourself
- Does the title explain the offer without the page?
- Is it distinct from other important pages?
- Does it match the content actually displayed?
